The Clemson Community Care food pantry distributes over 10,000 pounds of food each month. And the number of requests for food is ongoing. The lists of food items we distribute to each family is prepared by a nutrition group at Clemson University and consists of juice, peanut butter, canned meats, canned fish, canned vegetables, canned and dried beans, rice, soup, spaghetti sauce, tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, pasta, canned or dried milk, oatmeal, grits, cereal, flour, canned fruit, jello or pudding, crackers or bread. In addition, grocery bags are filled with other items called extras that are donated, such as sugar, eggs, bottled water, nearly expired food we receive from the Walmart distribution program and the Publix bakery, and household items such as toiletries, laundry and dish soaps.
Donations can be dropped off at the CCC office Monday-Thursday between 8:30am-1:30pm. When purchasing items, please consider more nutritional items, such as whole grains, as well as items that are low in salt and low in sugar.
